Profile
Prof. Harshinie Karunarathna is a personal chair in coastal engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The primary focus of her research is coastal and estuarine hydro-morphodynamics and climate change impacts on the coastal zone. Her pioneering research on computational coastal modelling and, the development of data-driven and reduced physics modelling approaches has been internationally recognised. She is an Elected Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. She currently co-directs the Climate Action Research Institute.
